"Next in importance to freedom and justice is popular education, without which neither freedom nor justice can be permanently maintained." James A. Garfield 1831-1881
As many of you know last year Stedman Elementary Students read to the top of Stedman Elementary School, our students read 4,372 hours to get to the top of Stedman. In order to get to the top of the Statue of Liberty we will have to read 4,375 hours.
The money from this campaign, helps the Stedman PTO pay for assemblies, field trips, and field day. It also provides, books for the school library and for students who do not have access to books at home to take home.
In addition to reading to help the school our students will be reading to earn money to donate pigs to the people of Haiti. See "One page helps out one life" for more information.
I encourage you to look further into our website, where I believe that you will be impressed by the culture and quality of education at Stedman.
